Highlights

Awana theme nights are always a blast, and the recent Grandpa/Grandma Night was no exception! Kids went all out, dressing as the most convincing grandparents they could. Check out the pictures to see their creativity in action! But beyond the fun, one of the most exciting aspects of Awana is seeing kids eagerly memorize and recite Scripture. Their enthusiasm for hiding God’s Word in their hearts is incredible to witness!

Parents’ Night Off was back! This time, kids dived into the story of Jonah and the Big Fish with fish-themed games, activities, crafts, and, of course, pizza. It’s always a great opportunity for parents to enjoy a well-deserved evening while their kids have a fantastic time playing and learning.

Big Weekend was an unforgettable reminder that God is at work in and through us—not just at church, but throughout the OKC area. Students worshiped, served, laughed, and learned how God is rewiring our hearts. One of the most impactful moments was our service project with No Boundaries, where students saw firsthand how God can use them, no matter their age, to bring light and hope to those in need. It was also powerful to see students connect with peers from different churches, recognizing that their mission extends beyond Metro Students to their schools, teams, and communities. Read the Big Weekend 2025 Reflections.

February wrapped up with a Testimony Night, where four students and leaders shared how God has been faithful in difficult times. Afterward, every student had a chance to share their story in small groups. With over 70 students and leaders participating, it was inspiring to hear how God is moving in their lives. Students have been challenged to share their testimonies with others—so please pray for them to be bold and joyful as they take that step of faith!

Handbook Spotlight

One of our greatest joys in kids and student ministries is equipping children to share the Gospel. This month, we’ve been teaching various ways to do so—because while the method may change, the message remains the same.

In Metro Kids Worship, children are learning the Gospel through The Wordless Book, a simple yet powerful way to explain salvation using five colors:

  • Gold – God is holy, perfect, and full of love.
  • Black – Sin separates us from God.
  • Red – Jesus died and rose again for us.
  • White – We are forgiven and made new when we believe.
  • Green – We grow in faith by going to church, reading the Bible, obeying God, and sharing the Gospel.

To make this even more engaging, we’ve introduced Gospel in Motion, adding motions to help kids memorize and share the message in a fun, interactive way.

Our students are also becoming Gospel-sharing experts! They’ve been learning different methods, including:

  • Emoji Bracelet – Using four simple emojis to explain God’s love, sin’s impact, Jesus’ sacrifice, and salvation through faith.
  • Three Circles – A conversation-based method for visual learners that fosters engagement rather than just presentation.
  • Bridge Illustration & Romans Road – Classic, powerful tools with plenty of online resources for those who want to grow in confidence.

But above all, we remind our students that the most powerful way to share the Gospel is through their own story. A testimony isn’t about having a perfect past—it’s about showing how Jesus is the hero who saves, redeems, and transforms lives.

We are overjoyed to share that two kids recently put their faith in Christ! Praise God for the way He is moving in our ministry!

What We’ve Learned & What’s Next

In February, our kids explored Jesus’ incredible miracles, many of which involved water! From calming storms to walking on water, they learned how every miracle revealed Jesus’ power and love, drawing people closer to God.

This month, kids will step into the “big picture” of Jesus’ teachings through His parables. Like a great movie that lingers in our minds long after the credits roll, these lessons will stick with kids and shape their faith. They’ll discover how God helps us know the truth, calls us to give back, provides helpers, and offers second chances.

For our students, a new study begins!

  • Wednesday D-Groups – Walking through the book of Galatians
  • Sunday High School – Studying Romans 6-8
  • Sunday Middle School – Covering 1 Corinthians through Philippians

Pray for our Sunday groups as they tackle big theological questions and for our D-Groups as they grow in daily dependence on God. Stay connected through Facebook and Church Center for updates and weekly questions to discuss with your students!
