Highlights
One of the greatest strengths of our Metro Kids ministry is the dedication of our leaders to creating a safe, nurturing environment. Their commitment extends beyond teaching to ensuring every child feels protected and valued.
We recently conducted a training course on incident reports, emergency procedures, and classroom management. It was inspiring to witness our team’s proactive problem-solving and thoughtful leadership. Their dedication ensures our kids are both cared for and prepared for any situation. We’re grateful for their passion!
A key highlight every January is forming our mission trip teams. This year, 25 students and leaders are preparing for a summer mission trip to South Carolina, focusing on home construction and kids’ ministry outreach. These students are not just preparing for a trip—they are embracing a year-round commitment to serving God.
Hearing their mission trip testimonies was powerful. Many shared how their faith has shaped them and how their church community has encouraged their growth. Their confidence and vision reflect Jesus’ promise in Matthew 16—His church will stand strong. Please keep them in your prayers as they boldly live out the Gospel.
Handbook Spotlight
This month, we celebrate our leaders’ incredible service, who go beyond simply filling roles to genuinely caring for kids, families, and fellow leaders. Here are just a few examples:
- Chris Hales has been a devoted student ministry leader for three years. He leads a D-Group, teaches middle schoolers, and volunteers on almost every trip. Chris sees his ministry not as a duty but a calling—he loves these students as if they were his own family. His passion and unwavering commitment to their spiritual growth make a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful for him.
- Parents’ Night Off volunteers provide parents with much-needed time together while ensuring kids have a fun, loving environment. These leaders engage children with activities, games, and meaningful interactions, creating a space where kids feel safe and loved. Their dedication has strengthened many families in our church, offering a refreshing break to parents while blessing the children with joy-filled experiences.
- David & Mary Lynn Murray have dedicated over 40 years to student ministry, faithfully serving students and leaders. They help teach middle and high school groups on Sundays and step in wherever needed on Wednesdays. What sets them apart is their heart for mentoring and training new leaders. They see their ministry as an opportunity to build up others, ensuring the next generation of leaders is strong in faith and purpose. Their selfless service leaves a legacy that will continue for years to come.
- Jamie Hildenbrand exemplifies the power of hospitality. When a new family recently visited Metro Kids, she not only guided them through check-in but personally invited them to sit with her during the service. Her warmth and kindness transformed their first visit into a welcoming experience, showing that meaningful service isn’t just about actions—it’s about making people feel seen and valued. Jamie and our welcome team create a space where every family feels embraced.
- Ethan Murray, a high school junior, leads our Wednesday night prayer time with passion and purpose. He not only prays for those in need of salvation but actively engages others by interviewing them about who they are praying for. His ability to listen and encourage his peers fosters a powerful atmosphere of faith and intercession. When Ethan leads, it’s clear that he is deeply invested in the mission of prayer, and his enthusiasm is contagious.
We wish we could share every story of meaningful service, but for now, we simply say—thank you. Your faithfulness impacts kids, students, and families in powerful ways!
What We’ve Learned & What’s Next
In January, our kids learned about John the Baptist, discovering how God gives them purpose, speaks to them, and is always faithful. This month, they’ll explore Jesus’ miracles—calming storms, walking on water, and more—seeing how His power and love impact their lives.
Our students have been diving deep into studies: On Wednesdays, Job in D-Groups, and on Sundays, Romans for high schoolers, and New Testament letters for middle schoolers. This month, D-Groups will conclude Job with a Testimony Night, where students will share personal faith stories. Keep praying for our Sunday groups as they wrestle with theology and big questions. Stay connected via Facebook and Church Center groups for updates!
