The Funeral Meal Ministry at Metropolitan is a compassionate initiative that aims to provide comfort and sustenance to grieving families during their time of loss. This ministry is made possible through the dedicated efforts of volunteers who serve in various capacities.

Available Positions:

  • Food Prep: Prepare and deliver a dish from a provided list the day before or the morning of the funeral. Examples of food provided by food preparers include potato casserole, green beans, corn casserole, baked beans, large green salad, potato salad, dinner rolls, tea, and desserts.
  • Servers: Set up, serve, and clean up. This involves preparing the room, setting up food and drinks, plating desserts, making coffee, and cleaning up after the meal. Each meal service takes approximately three hours.
  • Coordinator: Organize the meal, recruit food prep and server volunteers for each funeral, and ensure the kitchen is stocked with necessary supplies. Responsibilities may also include ordering fried chicken the day before the funeral.

Whether you can prepare a dish, serve a meal, or help coordinate, your contribution will make a meaningful difference. Please consider offering your time and gifts to this compassionate ministry. Sign up today and be a beacon of God’s love in our church family.
