New Weekly Schedule
Published March 27, 2020

Dear Metropolitan Family,

In the last week, we’ve had to rethink a lot of ways we live out everyday life. We’re all learning news ways to shop, get food, communicate, and connect with one another. Obviously, we have all been rethinking what it means to be a congregation. In the past week, I have been so impressed by the stories I am hearing. Homebound seniors are being checked on, Bible studies have happened over the internet, and we have continued to gather as a church scattered through our online services.

With that in mind, let me lay out what a “normal” schedule will be at Metropolitan. Our schedule all of a sudden does not have to be Sunday morning and Wednesday night centric. Rather, we have decided to space out the way we connect as a church. This is due largely to logistics (bandwidth, multiple people using devices, childcare), but it is also because we need to (re)define the way we do church. We are all stuck at home, and it is important to spread out meetings throughout the week so we do not go so long in between seeing faces we love. It should go without saying that we will be using the internet to connect with one another. We have chosen to adopt the online meeting platform Zoom for Sunday School, Bible studies, and student ministries. We have been using it exclusively this last week to a lot of success.

Note that this list is not exhaustive. Rather, we are requesting that these time-slots are to be honored and other groups do not schedule meetings over them.
